030 by The Good The Bad (NSFW)
Sorry for a second NSFW (not suitable for work) music video in one week… but, well, here ya go… “030” by The Good The Bad…
Directed by Jeppe Kolstrup
Yeah, not as artistically clever as El Guincho‘s NSFW music video. What can I say. I’m a man… it’s not all about artistic expression all the time.
Back to the non-sex-fused music postings tomorrow. Tonight’s show… Dead Kenny G’s, Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey, and Trio Subtonic review to be posted Sunday.

LATIN is one of my favorites this year. Go check it out on the Amazons.
Holy Fuck. Inspired by Kittens.

El Guincho’s “Bombay” video (NSFW)
This came out about 3 weeks ago, but I recently got to see it. El Guincho‘s “Bombay” is entrancing, odd and heavily features nudity (thus the NSFW warning).
Directed by Nicolás Méndez.
Produced by CANADA (lawebdecanada.com)

Check out their album, Pop Negro:

not suitable for work due to nudity, sexual content, adult themes, tits, ass, boobies, and the other stuff we all like looking at but shouldn’t while at work
Hoquiam video
Here’s the latest, lo-fi video from Hoquiam (Damien and Drake Jurado)… Zombies of the Sea:
The vinyl-or-mp3-only, self-titled debut by Hoquiam is available on St. Ives/Secretly Canadian. That release and Damien’s solo Saint Bartlett rank in my faves this year.

Check out my review & photos from their April 2010 show in Portland, OR:
Fol Chen is “In Ruins”
Fol Chen sent director Chris Wilcha (This American Life Showtime series / The Target Shoots First) to Iceland to film amidst the volcanic dust from the erupting Eyjafjallajökull for their new music video, “In Ruins.”
Two Icelandic youth wander through an apocalyptic wasteland wearing masks just to breathe and see amidst the dust. “In Ruins” is from Fol Chen’s Part II: The New December. Director: Chris Wilcha // Producer: Petur Sigurdsson // Director of Photography: Tómas Örn Tómasson //Editor: Catherine Bull // Featuring: Gudfinnur Sveinsson & Elìn Elisabet Einarsdóttir
Jónsi and the volcano
Regardless of the travel havoc it caused, the Icelandic volcano is at least a wonderfully, gorgeous and immensely beautiful part of nature. Here is some video footage of Eyjafjallajökull paired with the song “Kolniður” from Jónsi‘s solo album Go:
Video shot by Sean Stiegemeier on a Canon 5d mkII. Jónsi is the lead singer from Sigur Rós and a musical ambassador out of Iceland. It doesn’t strike me as odd that his music mirrors the beauty of his native landscape.

In other news, there’s a new Symphony of Science song / video out. It is “The Unbroken Thread,” featuring Carl Sagan (yet again), along with David Attenborough and Jane Goodall, and it is biology themed. The clips used in this installment come from Carl Sagan’s Cosmos, David Attenborough’s Charles Darwin and the Tree of Life, The Life of Mammals, The Living Planet, BBC Life, XVIVO Scientific Animations, IMAX Cosmic Voyage, Jane Goodall’s TED Talk, and a clever Guinness Commercial. The themes present in this song attempt to explore the wild diversity of life on our planet, the intricacy and origin of its mechanisms, and its close relation to all other life forms.
If you don’t know what Symphony of Science is… it started with “A Glorious Dawn” with Carl Sagan (from Cosmos). It’s a brilliant auto-tuned mashup, and they also released it on vinyl (best of the year for me in 2009). You can download the mp3s of the various songs over at the SOS site.
Goddamn Electric Bill “Ten Thousand Years”
I’ve been a fan of Jason Torbert‘s pseudonym Goddamn Electric Bill and his organic, electronic one-man bandness for a while. I bought his EP, The Only Power to Please, from the musical social ghetto that is MySpace back in 2005. I’ve been a fan of his work ever since – it fits with a lot of the organic electronic that I dig: Chroma Key, Ken Andrew’s On, The Album Leaf, Tristeza, Frog Pocket, et cetera…
Well, his new video for “Ten Thousand Years” off of 2008’s Topics for Gossip is really creative and heart warming…
Written/Directed by Drake Doremus
Director of Photography: John Guleserian
Production Designer: Theresa Avram
Edited by Jason Stewart
Starring: Jason Torbert (aka GdEB) and Zibby Allen
Crew: Eli Berg, David Meador, Tyler Graim, Scott Uhlfelder,
Armando Ballesteros, Amelia Tabullo, James Obed,
Tommy Obed, Israel Unger, and Mark Schoening

Digital Noise Academy is Melting Inside
So, the Digital Noise Academy dropped the “Los Angeles” from the front of their name… it’s been a while since there’s been any activity to report, but yesterday they posted their new official video for “Melting Inside“…
The DNA is Ken Andrews (coincidentally brought up in my Puscifer live show review from yesterday), Charlotte Martin (Ken’s wife), Justin Meldal-Johnsen, Sharky Laguana, Tommy Walter, Fernando Sanchez, and Jordon Zadorozny. I hope this means there’s a DNA album on the way. I think the last LADNA news was prior to Ken’s Secrets of the Lost Satellite CD (in early 2007).
