Puscifer last night on Jimmy Kimmel
Maynard James Keenan just got off the road with a few Tool dates, and he’s about to hit the road again with Puscifer (dates at the bottom). They swung by Jimmy Kimmel Live last night and played “Telling Ghosts” and “Toma“…
Conditions of My Parole is a brilliant record; so I think you should go buy it if you haven’t yet. It’s at the top of my pile for 2011 releases (by far). Last year’s tour was one of my favorite shows of the year… if they swing by you this coming month, go see ’em!

Over the Rhine on The Portland Sessions
Last November, Cincinnati-based folk-Americana band Over the Rhine stopped by Portland, Oregon. Their show at the Aladdin Theater on 11/17 is recounted at my post HERE.
From the stage, singer Karin Bergquist mentioned that they had stopped by and recorded in-studio with The Portland Sessions. TPS wasn’t up and running yet, but it is now posted… enjoy all 26 minutes!
They play “The King Knows How” (dedicated to Elvis), “Oh Yeah by the Way,” the new song that I’m unofficially calling “On The Sacred Ground,” the Good Dog Bad Dog classic “Latter Days,” and end it with a Q&A.

Inlets on Daytrotter
Two Daytrotter posts in a row? Well, they continually put out great in-studio sessions for FREE. Don’t worry, I’ll be back to the normal thing… my Reptet live review from last night coming up by Monday (with photos from their Eugene show at Luckey’s).
This Daytrotter session is from Inlets (aka Sebastian Krueger). I first saw Inlets back when I was visiting NYC in March 2007. He had connections to My Brightest Diamond (Shara Worden), and that show really clued me into his wonderfulness. He played on her A Thousand Shark’s Teeth record, and in 2007 his Vestibule EP was available for free (legally). I’m sure you can still find it (or if you ask Sebastian nicely).

Twitter updates…
Shara Worden (aka My Brightest Diamond) posted this on her twitter yesterday…
This would presumably be her 3rd studio album under the MBD moniker – unless she’s working on some other side-project. Stayed tuned here and at http://www.mybrightestdiamond.com/ as things develop.
Ty Tabor (of King’s X) posted this on his twitter & Facebook yesterday…
Working on vocals for the new Jelly Jam disc today!
Jelly Jam is his “super group” rock side-project with John Myung (bass, Dream Theater) and Rod Morgenstein (drums, Dixie Dregs). This will be their 3rd album… expected early 2011 release. http://www.tytabor.com/
GOASTT on NPR Tiny Desk Concerts
Sean Lennon and Charlotte Kemp Muhl (aka Goast of a Saber Tooth Tiger) just recorded a Tiny Desk Concert for NPR. I’m super stoked about their upcoming tour (go here for dates).

Over the Rhine on Good Day LA (KTTV) on 11/11
So, within one week, I’ll get to see Over the Rhine two times… it’s been since Sept 2007 since I’ve gotten a chance to see them. Yesterday, they stopped by Los Angeles’ KTTV (a Fox affiliate), chatted and sang “The King Knows How” on Good Day LA. Photos posted to Facebook by a fellow Orchard Apple/friend, Bill Ivester. Video link after some of Bill’s shots…

Three days until their Eugene show… woot! Oh, and for pre-orderers, the download links for The Long Surrender should be in your inbox from the band with the super secret URL and password. If you miss it, the album will be out on 1/11/11.

Nellie McKay – indie film & WBGO interview
Update: You can now order Home Sweet Mobile Home on Amazon
To piggy back off of this recent post about Nellie McKay‘s upcoming album, Home Sweet Mobile Home (out Sept 28), online music source 24bit added…
Before the album drops this fall, however, McKay will record music for and star as struggling New York City singer-songwriter Ramona in Downtown Express, an independent feature film in which her character falls in love with a Russian musician visiting town for a month on a Juilliard scholarship, played by real-life virtuoso violinist Philippe Quint.
She also did an in-studio appearance at WBGO (streaming audio link). She does some tunes and is interviewed by WBGO’s Michael Bourne. It was posted over at nelliemckay.com only yesterday (7/18/2010); so I assume it’s recent – even though it seems very Normal As Blueberry Pie-centric.
