Eddie Vedder @ Schnitz (Portland 7/14)
Stupendous show last night at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall from Eddie Vedder & Glen Hansard. I should have my review up with photos later this weekend.
Updated ~ Review & setlist posted: HERE (photos still to come)
The highlight for me was the duets set capped with a Eddie/Glen duet on The Swell Season’s “Falling Slowly.”

Eddie Vedder – Ukulele Songs (2011)
Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder is putting out his stripped down Ukulele Songs album next Tuesday (May 31st).
It’s a short album (less than 35 minutes), but has many of the things we love of the voice that is Eddie Vedder. Musically, I find it lacking. I’m used to the rock(!)… but I still think it’s a good record.
The album is streaming for free over on NPR. You can order it from the Amazons now.
Eddie’s upcoming summer tour with The Swell Season/The Frames frontman Glen Hansard (and not Thom Yorke) starts in mid-June:
June 15: Providence, R.I. (Providence Performing Arts Center)
June 16: Boston, Mass. (The Wang Theatre)
June 18: Hartford, Conn. (The Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts)
June 21: New York, N.Y. (Beacon Theatre)
June 22: New York, N.Y. (Beacon Theatre)
June 25: Philadelphia, Pa. (Tower Theatre)
June 26: Detroit, Mich. (Fox Theatre)
June 28: Chicago, Ill. (The Chicago Theatre)
July 1: St. Louis, Mo. (Fox Theatre)
July 2: Minneapolis, Minn. (Orpheum Theatre )
July 5: San Diego, Calif. (Copley Symphony Hall)
July 6: Long Beach, Calif. (Terrace Theater)
July 8: Los Angeles (The Wiltern)
July 9: Santa Barbara, Calif. (Santa Barbara Bowl)
July 11: Oakland, Calif. (The Paramount Theatre)
July 14: Portland, Ore. (Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall)
July 15: Seattle, Wash. (Benaroya Hall)
Thom Yorke added to Eddie Vedder solo tour
Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke was a last minute adjustment to Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder’s upcoming solo tour. The Swell Season’s Glen Hansard will be the opener, and Thom and Eddie will share co-headlining duties.
Per Thom Yorke’s publicist (press release link below)…
[Thom] will play a mix of tunes from The Eraser, some The King of Limbs songs, a few solo piano tunes and share some songs with Eddie. [Thom] and Eddie have been mutual admirers of one another’s work, and the timing was right as Radiohead didn’t have any summer touring plans for 2011.
The Hansard/Yorke/Vedder tour kicks off in Providence, RI on June 15th and wraps up a month later in Seattle. For a promo video about the upcoming tour, check here:

Tres Mts in Seattle (3/16)
So, I got stranded in Eugene, and wasn’t able to go up and shoot the debut Tres Mts show at the Showbox at the Market in Seattle… :(
Well, “Iron Mike” Savoia took some great photos… check them out at his Facebook page… dUg Pinnick (King’s X), Jeff Ament (Pearl Jam), Richard Stuverud (The Fastbacks), and Mike McCready (Pearl Jam)… Savoia Digital Photography does amazing work!
Also, check out Jason Tang Photography, too…
While I missed this great show, I was able to hit the excellent Punch Brothers (with Chris Thile) at McDonald Theatre that night. My review with photos will be posted this weekend.

jónsi live at the wiltern was directed by dean deblois, (the director of the oscar nominated film how to train your dragon and the sigur rós film heima). the footage – recorded at los angeles’ wiltern theater – was first aired on npr on sunday october 17, 2010 and it marked the first ever live video webcast of a concert for the public radio organisation. filmed towards the end of jónsi’s extensive world tour in support of his solo album ‘go’, the film captures the live show at the late stage when the set and visuals were at their finest. this digital release is available exclusively on itunes.
Other news…
- Tres Mountains (side project from Jeff Ament of Pearl Jam & dUg Pinnick of King’s X) is now up for pre-order. It comes out March 14th. Go HERE for more info on pre-order.
- Carla Kihlstedt & Mattias Bossi‘s new album, Still You Lay Dreaming: Tales for the Stage II, also came out today. It is digital only… and knowing Carla’s chamber indie-rock magic, it’ll be great (it’s in my e-shopping cart now). http://kihlstedtbossi.bandcamp.com
My Nels Cline Singers‘ Portland show (1/30) review & photo editing being worked on now… I’ll post it by morning (sorry for the delay).
Tres Mountains (King’s X’s dUg Pinnick & Pearl Jam’s Jeff Ament)
A new “super group” of dUg Pinnick from King’s X, Richard Stuverud of the Fastbacks, and Jeff Ament of Pearl Jam has a name and an album coming out and a selective tour in March 2011.
Tres Mountains (aka Tres Mts.)
Go to http://tresmts.com/, sign up for their newsletter, and get a free download of “My Baby.” The debut album Three Mountains comes out in March 15th, 2011 (CD, LP, digital). Update 2/3: I just got my ticket for the Seattle show at the Shoebox (3/16). Apparently Mike McCready (also from Pearl Jam) is playing with them. Woot!
Update 3/8: get the record digitally here:
I’m hoping good things from this group. I tend to really dig bands and side-projects where dUg gets involved. The first track “My Baby” needs a bit warming up for me, but I dig the vibe.

Pearl Jam’s Backspacer (artwork)
So, Pearl Jam‘s upcoming album art for Backspacer doesn’t make me wanna make some guacamole, but it is pretty cool… here are all nine (9) pieces of the Backspacer art:

In accordance with the prophecies…
…I lied about not posting for a few days. Two cool things: Jeff Ament (of Pearl Jam) with Doug Pinnick (of King’s X) -and- a free Michael Moore movie Slacker Uprising.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
First things first. In 2004, Doug Pinnick (bassist/vocals of King’s X) and Jeff Ament (bassist of Pearl Jam) wrapped up an album tentatively titled Montana. In 2004. At this point in time, Guns ‘n’ Roses’ Chinese Democracy may come out first. Jeff & Doug have been friends for a while… at least since way back when King’s X opened up for Pearl Jam. During PJ’s MTV Unplugged session, Jeff had a big “King’s X” written on his hand (in 1992?).
Anyway, today on Blabbermouth it was dropped that Jeff Ament’s solo album called Tone (pictured above) comes out on Sept 16th via PJ’s Ten Club. It features Doug Pinnick as guest lead vocals on a track called “Doubting Thomasina.” It’s limited to 3,000 copies… CD only. I’m hoping this makes the 15-or-so track Pinnick/Ament album more likely to be released soon.

Here’s a trailer for the movie:

The 4 Elements (Mix CD)
Posty‘s Not-All-That-Quarterly Compilation
The 4 Elements
It’s thematic, obviously. Some of it is new music, yet most of it is just music I’ve always liked that seemed to fit the compilation’s schema. The liners are not completed, yet. Hell, a test pressing hasn’t even been completed; so the track order might change some. I’m just drumming up interest before I decide how much energy to expend… email me if interested. It’ll likely go out sometime in mid-to-late July ’06…
