King’s X drummer Jerry Gaskill suffered heart attack {currently recovering / US Tour canceled}
Updated as health news comes in (see below)…
Earlier this morning (2/26/12), news surfaced on Facebook that King’s X drummer Jerry Gaskill suffered a heart attack and is currently in the ICU. Keep him in your thoughts and hope he gets stellar medical supervision & help!
Obviously, no word on how this will impact the upcoming KX tour (that was to kick off at the end of March), but (tour canceled – see below) I know any KX fan would want him to get better versus over-exerting himself on the road! His health is way more important, but we hope he’s healthy to hit the road after some rest & recovery.
From bassist/singer dUg Pinnick said on FB: “He was operated on and is in stable condition at the hospital. Were all waiting for more info.” Then posted this on twitter…
Jerry’s drumtech Chris ‘JRAB’ Thomas has a post in this blog’s comments section. Also stay tuned to www.kingsxrocks.com for add’l updates.

try to take the balloon pump out tomorrow”
2/28/12 update from dUg and Blabbermouth…
In light of Jerry‘s sudden hospitalization, all previously announced North American tour dates for KING’S X have been cancelled. Jerry will be taking the time to recover back to full health so that he can hopefully join the band behind the drums at some point in the future.

new Sunny Day Real Estate album
As reported on Paste…
As if fans weren’t excited enough about Sunny Day Real Estate reuniting, reissuing two albums (1994’s Diary and 1995’s LP2) and touring (review of Portland’s Sept 2009 SDRE show), there are now reports that the band may be recording a new album.
This afternoon, Marco Williams—a radio DJ at KEXP 90.3—tweeted, “Great news today. Just got an email from Nate from Sunny Day Real Estate/Foo Fighters… SDRE is recording A NEW RECORD IN MAY!!”
Talk of a new album began after the band performed a new song during their reunion tour, so Williams’ declaration adds more validity to those rumors. If this new album comes to fruition, it will be the band’s first release of new material since 2000.
Jónsi.com
So, I got an email simply titled “jonsi.com” and had a graphic that went to a simple website…
You can sign up for an email list and if you click the “J” on the website, it changes and plays a cute little tune. I think this mean Jonsi Birgisson from Sigur Rós has something in the hopper…
yay!

the Sigur Rós announcement (27 May 08)
OK, well, the Sigur Rós announcement isn’t that the album is called ñækíð εή а ŧræé… it’s called Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust (eh, I was close, huh?), and it’ll be out June 24th in the U.S. The album name means “With a buzz in our ears we play endlessly.” Seriously. Go HERE for more info on the album. Pre-ordering begins June 2nd from sigurros.com.
So, MSIEVSE would be the shorthand for the album? Quality. Or maybe just Medsud…

More Nakedness:

Sigur Rós’ new album is called… “ñækíð εή а ŧræé” …?
Naked, tree-dwelling Icelandic band Sigur Rós will have “an important announcement” on sigurros.com on Tuesday, May 27th (noon UK, 7am EST, 4am PST)…
My guesses for what the news is all about…
- They found someone with a ladder; so they expect to come down from the tree shortly.
- They’re dissolving and forming two separate KISS cover bands.
- They are only touring cities next time that have active volcanoes within 20 miles of the stage.
- Their new reality television show got picked up by ABC. It’s about 4 guys who live in the same house, and get along really, really well. In the premiere episode, a fight almost breaks out when they fight over who’s going to wash the dishes. The resolve it by all pitching in… aw….
- They are announcing their next album name and release date… (the most likely guess)
