Glen Phillips updates

18th Sep 08 (Thu) Leave a comment Go to comments

Toad the Wet Sprocket frontman Glen Phillips has new projects (now with names) with albums on the horizon:

The Plover record (project with Neilson Hubbard and Garrison Star) is done, and will be available in the next few months.

Also – The other band, the one without a name, now has a name. We are the Works Progress Administration. Go to WPAmusic.com for a taste.

He’s going on tour with Jonatha Brooke in late Oct / early Nov.  Sean and Sara Watkins from Nickel Creek in late Nov.  And Jonatha Brooke again in early December.  I’ll be seeing him in early Nov in Portland (Aladdin Theater, 11/6), as I’ll be up there for work.  His tour dates are not in an easily copy-n-pasteable format; so GO HERE for any of his tourdates.

*yawn* When’s the Glen/Lapdog collaboration album coming out? That would rock.

:D Yeah, you’d think with the touring they’ve been doing the past few years, they’d book a studio. :)

Even if they farted out a record it’d be 20 times more interesting than anything he’s done in the studio since “Coil.”

    Um… well, that’s your opinion. :)

Winter Pays for Summer is on par with the Toad catalog, IMO.

Meh. Without the band he sounds like about 3,000 other male singer-songwriters. His solo stuff isn’t bad, it’s just not…distinctive.

To be fair, his vocals are what a lot of people (myself included) love about Toad. His vocals (and lyrics / songwriting) are still the same whether Toad or solo…
