Glen Phillips “oops. ouch.”

Reposted from Glen Phillips’s blog

never sit on a glass coffee table, even on the edge of one, the metal part which looks like it can support your weight that you’ve sat on before and seen others sit on. it will break and you will fall into the glass, deeply cutting your arm so that you’ll have to cancel the first few shows (at least) of the upcoming tour.

which means: i need to see a hand specialist in the next few days and find out what can be done to make my left hand work properly again. i also need to get mr kingham to learn to play all my songs, as i dont think i’ll be able to play guitar for a while. i’ll keep you informed as i know more about the tour and my arm. just to repeat: only the first few shows are currently cancelled. i want to get out and sing for you all as soon as i can

also: special thanks to sean watkins for calling the ambulance, putting a tourniquet on me and reviving me when i passed out from blood loss. he even cleaned up the room. three cheers!

Ouch, indeed.  *shudder*

I hope you heal quickly, sir!

PS- he’s posted an update… as of 10/12, he thinks he’ll be back on tour by 10/31, not playing guitar, but at least singing.  Read more here: http://glenphillips.net/blog/?p=76

Glen Phillips updates

Toad the Wet Sprocket frontman Glen Phillips has new projects (now with names) with albums on the horizon:

The Plover record (project with Neilson Hubbard and Garrison Star) is done, and will be available in the next few months.

Also – The other band, the one without a name, now has a name. We are the Works Progress Administration. Go to WPAmusic.com for a taste.

He’s going on tour with Jonatha Brooke in late Oct / early Nov.  Sean and Sara Watkins from Nickel Creek in late Nov.  And Jonatha Brooke again in early December.  I’ll be seeing him in early Nov in Portland (Aladdin Theater, 11/6), as I’ll be up there for work.  His tour dates are not in an easily copy-n-pasteable format; so GO HERE for any of his tourdates.

Glen Phillips & Jonatha Brooke

Glen Phillips (of Toad the Wet Sprocket) and Jonatha Brooke (of The Story) are going out on the road together this fall.

I’ve seen Glen a multitudinous amount of times, and it’s ALWAYS a treat. My latest outing of his was reviewed here (2/21/08 WOW Hall, Eugene-OR). I saw Jonatha Brooke back in April 2001 (I love Plumb and 10 Cent Wings). It was with a girl who I eventually married, and while Jonatha didn’t start anything with our relationship – – her show was a good excuse for a date with this cute girl I had recently met.

Anyway, as luck would have it, they’re playing the fabulous Aladdin Theater in SE Portland on Thursday, November 6th. I saw Jude there last month. I’m up in PDX for work that week (tentatively); so it’s shaping up to be a good concert week (Ozomatli & Chali 2Na are at Crystal Ballroom the next day, Friday the 7th).
