I less than three George Hrab

5th May 12 (Sat) Leave a comment

Podcaster George Hrab has been my favorite free entertainment for a LONG time.  Since late 2007 or so, when I got into his funny & insightful podcast called the Geologic Podcast, he’s been my favorite near-hour of entertainment that gets put out nearly every week.

An all around great chap, his latest podcast (#262) featured a few hilarious “old timey” songs performed by “Manfreedy Johnson and the Nineteens“…

Beyond being a funny guy, a skeptic, and a thinker, he’s also a professional musician and has six full-length studio albums out (GO HERE to LISTEN).

Some news on the 4th OSI album…

Gavin Harrison of Porcupine Tree has just laid down drum tracks on a handful of new OSI songs. Jim [Matheos] and Kevin continue to write and record material for the fourth OSI album, their first with Metal Blade Records. Mixing is slated for June 2011.

Wussy… and rumors of Wussy

8th Dec 09 (Tue) Leave a comment

One of my beloved Cincinnati locals, Wussy, has put out some great rock.  Three albums, an EP, and some vinyl to be exact… they continually put out great material.  And while not an “official press release,” they leaked some great news via a status update on the Facebox on Monday…

(highlighting by me)

I got into Wussy via knowing their lead singer Lisa Walker in college… Lisa plus Ass Ponys‘ Chuck Cleaver, Mark Messerly, and Joe Klug make up Wussy.  They put out drony-yet-hook-laden rock, and they release their stuff via hometown Shake It Records (in the lovely Northside neighborhood in Cincinnati).  They’ve gotten some buzz in national rags (like Spin, CMJ, et cetera).  First national tour, first time they’ve hinted at coming out my way = Yippie!

Anyway… I hope it happens.  Srsly.

Oh, check out a recent article about Wussy’s Chuck & Lisa in Cincinnati Magazine (click picture):

PS- Celldweller‘s Wish Upon a Blackstar Ch 2 is out now.  Just DL’d it… looking forward to spinning it…

Secret Band Project

Well… this originated as a chain mail thingy on the Facebooks.  Mine actually turned out really well (if you ask me)…

My Secret Band Project

The Rules:

1 – Go to “wikipedia.” Hit “random”
or click http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first random wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.

2 – Go to “Random quotations”
or click http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last four or five words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your first album.

3 – Go to flickr and click on “explore the last seven days”
or click http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days
Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

4 – Use photoshop or similar to put it all together.

My follow-ups:
