Opeth “The Devil’s Orchard”

From Sufjan to Opeth… yeah, that’s how I roll.  Here’s “The Devil’s Orchard” (opens in new window):

It’s from Opeth’s upcoming album, Heritage, out in Sept 20th on Roadrunner.

Curious of your thoughts on this song? Seems a tad disjointed but I actually enjoy it. Very very strange as a single (especially compared to porcelain heart and grand conjuration).

Definitely a “70s vibe” as Mikael mentioned in interviews – probably due to the Hammond. More metal than “porcelain heart” (or at least moreso than the video/radio edit). I agree re: it seeming “disjointed.” I don’t really like the Hammond with Opeth (while I do like it in general for other bands). Perhaps it’s what makes the song seem disjointed?

The song is beautiful and complex, long as always. Opeth explores a jazzier side here
