I ♥ Peter DeFazio (my representative)
I ♥ my house representative, Peter DeFazio.
Sure, the failure of the bailout bill caused the Dow to drop 700+ points in one day on Monday. I’d rather have short-term losses than long-term unchecked corporate greed. We need to find a solution, but the solution brought forward by Henry Paulson and the White House was not the solution.
Back to the drawing board, people.
Also the congress as well. The Dem and Rep. Both suck as much.
Dan,
I can’t understand why you and this representative disagree with the bailout. It is a total move toward socialism for the USA; any self-respecting Green Party supporter should love that.
As for me, I say GO, CHUCK BALDWIN!

The Green Party doesn’t believe in a corporate bailout. The corporate bailout represents privatizing the profits (when times are good) and making the debt/losses be on the taxpayer’s backs.
Essentially, what we (taxpayers) have all done is afford the big corporations to earn scads of money, act unethically, then run out of money… only to have the government bail them out with our money. It’s wrong. It’s unethical.
I’m all for socializing things like health care. Every one needs health care. Every needs basic things like food, shelter, health, etc (I think Jesus would agree). The U.S. seems to be in a bad situation of helping prop up rich people (with lots of money), help bomb brown people (costing lost of money), and help screw over its own citizens who need it (which wouldn’t cost as much money).
Taxpayers don’t need to give money to bank CEOs who made bad judgment. Taxpayers don’t need to give $700 billion to these greedy corporations to turn around and spend it on frivolous things like this:
